The Guelph Film Festival is dedicated to expanding the proliferation of voices and perspectives of all kinds through the presentation of stories that explore themes of social justice, the environment, and community building.
We have a long history of inspiring community engagement and an appreciation for the arts by connecting people through stories of global reach and local relevance. There aren't many film festivals that do what we do.
As our festival grows, we will continue to present stories from the margins. We are serious about promoting gender parity and diversity in the film industry and every decision we make is guided by principles of inclusion and anti-oppression.

Services to People with Disabilities
The Festival strives at all times to provide its goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We are also committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to access our goods and services and allowing them to benefit from the same services as other patrons.
The Festival makes every effort to accommodate accessibility where possible but it is not guaranteed.
History and Disclaimer
The Festival is a small media arts festival run by four part time staff and a great team of volunteers. We provide access to excellent films from around the world with minimal admission prices, often pay what you can. The festival takes place over the first week of November in a variety of venues throughout downtown Guelph with a growing number of outreach sites in community centres, farms and the University. Our downtown venues range from local galleries to coffee shops, large churches to small art studios. 2018 marked the first year that we were able to offer all of our venues as wheelchair accessible, and we plan to continue and expand our accessibility.
Providing goods and services to people with disabilities
The Festival is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities and we will carry out our functions and responsibilities in the following areas:
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.
Telephone services: We are committed to providing fully accessible telephone service to our customers. Staff will strive to communicate with customers over the telephone in clear and plain language and to speak clearly and slowly.
We will offer to communicate with customers by e-mail if telephone communication is not suitable to their communication needs or is not available.
Assistive devices: We are committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use or benefit from our goods and services. Our staff and volunteers endeavor to help anyone requiring assistance to the best of their abilities.
Use of service animals and support persons
We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and other third parties.
We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. Any person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to enter any of the Festival’s venues with his or her support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to his or her support person while on our premises.
Fees will not be charged for support persons for admission to any of the Festival events. Volunteers and supervisors will be aware of and implement this policy.
